Stmicroelectronics (ST) in order to further strengthen, its flying distance sensor (ToF) market leader, introduced the second generation FlightSense technology, and is used to the new VL53L0X laser ranging sensor.

Is different from the traditional near Infrared Sensors (Infrared Proximity Sensors), the new sensor to provide accurate to mm measurements, and the color of the target object and reflectivity will not affect the range measurement results. Rapid response of FlightSense technology, laser assisted by using smart phone companies af lens, and able to identify the target near or far away from the mobile. Because of the sensor inside micro controller distance calculation, and through the I2C bus interface and output data, so can the demand of the main controller of the system to a minimum.

Built-in transmitter emitting laser wavelength of 940 nm, to don't harm the eyes of the visible light, there will be no similar other near infrared sensor made by red light, and scattered attention problem, the anti-interference of external light source. The sensor of digital architecture and function of automatic light compensation, in the ambient light strong scenario, still has high performance.
